Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria for 1-propanol+water+copper(II) chloride at 100kPa

Abstract Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria for the ternary system 1-propanol + water + copper(II) chloride has been measured at 100 kPa using a recirculating still. The addition of copper(II) chloride to the solvent mixture produced a salting-out effect of the alcohol, but the azeotrope did not tend to be eliminated when the salt content increased. The experimental data sets were fitted with the electrolyte NRTL model and the parameters of Mock's model were estimated. This model has proved to be suitable to represent experimental data in the entire range of compositions. Molecular structures inT=1states of10B

Multi-center (molecular) structures can play an important role in light nuclei. The highly deformed rotational band in 10Be with band head at 6.179 MeV has been observed recently and suggested to have an exotic alpha:2n:alpha configuration. A search for states with alpha:pn:alpha two-center molecular configurations in 10B that are analogous to the states with alpha:2n:alpha structure in 10Be has been performed. The T=1 isobaric analog states in 10B were studied in the excitation energy range of E=8.7-12.1 MeV using the reaction 1H(9Be,alpha)6Li*(T=1, 0+, 3.56 MeV). Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibrium for binary mixtures of 1-hexene+n-hexane and cyclohexane+cyclohexene at 30, 60 and 101.3kPa

Abstract Consistent vapor–liquid equilibria (VLE) data were determined for the binary systems 1-hexene + n-hexane and cyclohexane + cyclohexene at 30, 60 and 101.3 kPa, with the purpose of studying the influence of the pressure in the separation of these binary mixtures. The two systems show a small positive deviation from ideality and do not present an azeotrope. VLE data for the binary systems have been correlated by the Wilson, UNIQUAC and NRTL equations with good results and have been predicted by the UNIFAC group contribution method.

Abstract Room temperature acid sonication of milk samples is proposed as a fast alternative methodology for the determination of the total content of 45 elements (Li, Al, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Y, Mo, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, U, Sb, Te, Cs, Ba, Hg, Pb, Bi, Th, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Hf and Ta) in milk by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The aforementioned procedure involves a 10 min sample pre-treatment. A New LA ‐ ICP ‐ MS Method for Ti in Quartz: Implications and Application to High Pressure Rutile‐Quartz Veins from the Czech Erzgebirge

Experimental determination of the pressure and temperature controls on Ti solubility in quartz provides a calibration of the Ti-in-quartz (TitaniQ) geothermometer applicable to geological conditions up to ~ 20 kbar. We present a new method for determining 48Ti mass fractions in quartz by LA-ICP-MS at the 1 μg g−1 level, relevant to quartz in HP-LT terranes. We suggest that natural quartz such as the low-CL rims of the Bishop Tuff quartz (determined by EPMA; 41 ± 2 μg g−1 Ti, 2s) is more suitable than NIST reference glasses as a reference material for low Ti mass fractions because matrix effects are limited, Ca isobaric interferences are avoided, and polyatomic interferences at mass 48 are i…

Ultratrace analysis and isotope ratio measurements of long-lived radioisotopes by resonance ionization mass spectrometry (RIMS).

Resonance Ionization Mass Spectrometry (RIMS) is a sensitive and selective method for ultratrace analysis of long-lived radioisotopes and isotope ratio measurements. It provides extremely high isobaric suppression and good overall efficiency. The experimental limits of detection are as low as 10(6) atoms per sample and isotopic selectivities of 5x10(12) have been obtained. The widespread potential of RIMS, using different experimental arrangements, is demonstrated for the determination of the radiotoxic isotopes Pu-238 to Pu-244 and Sr-89/Sr-90 in various environmental samples as well as for Ca-41 in nuclear reactor components and biomedical samples.

Molecular association in low-temperature and high-pressure polymorphs of 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane

Interactions and aggregation of 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane molecules, Cl3CCH2Cl, have been investigated at low temperature and high pressure. Isobaric and isochoric crystallizations led to two polymorphs, characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The low-temperature polymorph α is monoclinic, space group C2/c, with molecules orientationally disordered in two sites at the temperature independent 70:30 rate. In isothermal conditions (295 K) 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane freezes at 0.73 GPa. The high-pressure polymorph β is monoclinic, space group P21/c, with the molecules fully ordered. Spectroscopy of nuclei approaching the proton drip-line using a secondary-fragmentation technique with the RISING detector array

An experiment utilizing a double fragmentation reaction was performed to study isobaric analogue states in A similar to 50 nuclei approaching the proton drip-line. gamma-ray spectroscopy will be used to identify excited states in the neutron-deficient nuclei produced in the second fragmentation reaction. Excited state level schemes will be obtained, through comparison with states in their well-known mirror partners, along with information on Coulomb effects through measurements of the Coulomb energy differences between isobaric analogue excited states. Approach to the 1-propanol dehydration using an extractive distillation process with ethylene glycol

Abstract The extractive distillation process exploits the capacity of some chemicals to alter the relative volatility between the components of a mixture. In this way, a third component (called entrainer) may be added to an azeotropic binary mixture to break the azeotrope. This paper discusses the potential use of ethylene glycol as entrainer in a 1-propanol dehydration process by extractive distillation. Mass ofAl23for testing the isobaric multiplet mass equation

The mass excess of the proton-rich nucleus $^{23}\mathrm{Al}$ has been measured with the JYFLTRAP Penning trap setup. As a result of our experiment we obtain a mass excess of 6748.07(34) keV, and by combining the value to existing experimental data we have tested the validity of the isobaric multiplet mass equation $(\mathrm{IMME})$ for the $T=3/2$ quartet in the $A=23$ isobar. The fit to the IMME results in a vanishing cubic term equivalent to zero with high precision [$0.22(42)$ keV].
